You know your exercise plan is failing...

... when you run 1.5 miles and almost pass out because you're so lightheaded

... then you blame it on how hot it is ( only 80°) and how humid (there's a nice cool breeze)

... when you scrounge for your child's last package of dinosaur fruit snacks

... then you eat them

... when you whip up a Texas Sheet Cake because those fruit snacks sure as heck aren't cutting it

... when your hubby leaves to go for another run after running with you so that he can actually "break a sweat."

... when you need a good 4 months to train for a 5K

Hang in there! It's always hard to start after a break. That's why I have to keep running myself or I'd stop and never start again. And I know my metabolism isn't up to that kind of abuse. :)

Are you really running a 5k? That's great! I've always wanted to do that. Good luck!

Loved this...
Of course you could have also mentioned the altitude adjustment (minus the fact it's in your favor).
Glad to hear ya'll are doing well and starting to enjoy Chicago.

girllllllllllllll
let e give you MY FAIL PROOF exercise plan....
1st- walk, and I mean briskly, to the freezer.
2nd- LIFT, use those arm muscles, to get the ice cream. Really reach now.
3rd- scoop, and scoop, and scoop that ice cream. No resting inbetween, you can do it!
4th- Streeeetch the spoon from your bowl to your mouth. Reps of about 6.
Now if you're not feeling the burn yet, do steps 1-4 AGAIN.

I promise I do it everyday and I haven't felt like a failure yet.

Not sure what you mean about "running", totally new concept to me.

I admire that you're even OUT there...that's more than I can say for myself!! I totally eat my kids fruit snacks at church (because there are 'extra').

Okay so your post and CHanel's comment was making me laugh out loud - seriously!! I like her plan!! THe last time i worked out, and i mean got in exercise clothes to actually get my heart rate up, was in October. Before I was pregnant. Thanks! Now I just bend over or walk up our apt stairs and feel out of breath, so I call that good!

Way to at least be training - and I want some TX sheet cake!

Uh, what? A 5K? Girl...

I ran home a block the other night from my neighbors house and almost had a heart attack.

Jim asked me the other day if I wanted to train for a marathon with him. I laughed. Hard. And then I yelled at him for not knowing me at all. :)

Oh my goodness...you make me laugh so hard, as does everyone else's comments. This is after I just ate a bowl of ice cream like it was my business. So, kudos for you to even attempt running, and to have the goal of running a 5k! Maybe you should just make it your goal to run on back to Castle Rock...?? I'm just sayin... Or maybe you are pregnant with #3 b/c of the food you are craving and your light headedness? I know what you're saying..."goodness no, not for a LONG time" but I still had to throw that in there :) Miss ya'll!

Hey, I know all about having to train for a 5K. Just think, each mile you run equals two more pieces of Texas sheet cake or one more scoop of ice cream or four more squares of chocolate. That's my philosophy anyway!

You make me laugh. Seriously.

Remember when we used to work out all the time. And ate all those brownies and cookies, and generally like pigs but still lost weight.

Yeah. That was an awesome year.

Oh my gosh---you CRACK ME UP! I wish we were going to be closer so we could play and "run" (eat) together! I just updated my blog with the plans but we are leaving next Friday because we had another visit to labor & delivery so we better get OUT of Utah! Not that I'm sad about that!! We'll have to get together once this baby is born and things have calmed down...though I'm not good at driving in the snow (being from Vegas and all) so we'll have to find a way to get together around the snow!

I think its awesome that you are doing a 5K and 1.5 miles is nothing to be ashamed of, seriously!! I love the one about how Evan goes on another run after he gets back with you, that is funny. I mean he could at least fake it like he got a good work out. :)
