On the Road Still

That title may be a little misleading considering the fact that we're not technically on the road at this moment, but we did roadtrip it up in October. We spent a weekend in Columbus, Ohio celebrating baby Gavin's blessing with the family. It was a great weekend after the brutal cartrip to Columbus (imagine nonstop rain, traffic, whiny kids, and one controlling side seat driving wife all of which made for some "tension," if you will, between Evan and I). There were definitely better pictures than the one above but I couldn't resist showing how extremely photogenic my children are. If you look closely, you'll know exactly what I mean.

Here are my parents with all of their grandkids. I had to post this one because a) Colt and my mom are matching and b) my parents look so darn happy. I think it's safe to say there are no pictures of my parents with us when we were little enjoying themselves this much. I'm going to try and not read too much into that fact.

Our second roadtrip was to Indianapolis for the big races. And yes, I'm counting my 5K as one of those "big" races. It was big for me people, so it counts. Here's Evan and our friends, Katie and Dave, after running 26.2 miles (a serious form of torture if you ask me). Since I had finished my pathetic 3 miles a good 3 hours before, I didn't feel right posing with the runners during this photo. I just don't think that my makeup and showered self would have shown all I had truly suffered. Speaking of suffering, Evan has now lost FIVE toenails. Ew. We are this close to enforcing a "you must wear socks to bed if you have missing toenails" rule.

Cute family pics..your parents do look so darn happy with their cute grandsons. I laughed at the "tension" comment...ohhh we've all been there. And be proud for running that 5K..that awesome!

You crack me up! Cute family pictures. The sun looked brutal that day :) And yes, grandparents seem so much happier than when they were parents. They allow grandchildren to do so much more than I was ever allowed to do. 5K! Wow, you go! A marathon does not sound like fun to me. Why are they smiling in this picture? I don't think I could stand losing a toenail let alone 5!

Oh I wish you would've posted a pic of the girl you had to pass during your 5k. With you and her hugging.

And did Evan lose the toenails because of the marathon? Ew. Feet are seriously just gross.

Is it horrible that I just want to hang out with you and Evan tomorrow night during your Halloween movie? Or is that tonite? I just want to be there, especially to have scary movie buddies - mom and dad want to rent Star Trek tonite. Well dad does. He says heather said it was "super!". Kinda hard for me to imagine heather using that word - does 'Super' have dad written all over it or what? Followed with a thumbs ups sign. Oh i laughed.

Wow-you both are runners? I couldn't run a 5k if someone paid me. Yeah for you, and I am worried about Evan's mental state about willingly running 26 miles. Was if for...fun?!?! AHHH!
You guys are awesomely crazy!

SO glad to have you back, of course just to have you leave again, but we'll take you when we can! How come the "5 toenail" thing just didn't come up in conversation at the Doughnut Party? Oh, 'cuz we were EATING! Gross...but you are hilarious. May as well put the rule on a vinyl sign to hang above the bed.

ok the "photogenic" comment was making me laugh HARD. You have the darn cutest boys in the world! They have soooo much personality and spunky cuteness, it is adorable! Love how happy your parents look- what PERFECT grandparents!!!

and girlfriend I would have had my hubs taking pictureS of me- JUST ME- had I run a 5K are you kidding?!?

and the toenail thing is CRAZY! What the heck is he doing to lose them??? its probably the talk radio- not the running. ha!

Wait. You ran a 5K?! Girrrrrrl! You go! I ran up the stairs the other day....

So wait. Evan's been training for a marathon all this time? How much time does that take anyway, and what do you do when he's running and losing toe nails?

Your parents are the cutest, and again, jealous because when I move that far away from mine, they won't be flying out for any of my kids blessings. GRRRRRRR....

I'm so proud of you for running that race! I want to run one someday, too, and I'm definitely in the 5k mindset, not the marathon. Your pictures are great!

And way to go Evan, and you, you are both amazing! And I'm with you on the toenail thing, gross. Sorry Evan, I mean you're awesome but...

Yay for you! A 5K is definitely an accomplishment. Ick, lost toenails: another reason I have no interest in running a marathon.

Baby Gavin is adorable! CONGRATS on running a 5k! I am so proud of you! Evan lost toenails from running a marathon? How did he survive??

PS. Your parents are so cute. It's apparent they're a VERY proud set of grandparents...as they should be! CUTE grandsons!

Way to go on the 5k. I am with you - I would never do a marathon. I did a 1/2 once and that is as far as I will ever go. And your parents look so happy in that picture with the grandkids. It was fun for me to see their smiling faces.

So, in my head Ashley is still in like 8th grade! Where has the time gone? Your whole family looks great! Tell your mom hello for me!

Yeah! Another post! It was great to laugh again with you. And I consider a 5K to be a marathon so you go girlfriend!! Anything beyond that and I think they should consider medication. :) Case in point, the toenails! Hello!! Who willingly participates in something that causes you to lose body parts?? Even if they are the kind that will grow back.

Major congrats on the family! Of course I adore your fam and it's so cute to see the proud grandparents. They do have it tons easier as grandparents because they never have to do the real disciplining anymore-- that's your problem, not theirs!

Sure miss you and your rascally boys. Can't wait for some Halloween pix! (I'm greedy!!)
Much love!!

Ashley,

I love that you said that comment about "Super". I just tried to call you and then mom cause I thought you would be with her, but to no avail. And snap I'm so sad I couldn't be there for that weekend. I can't wait to get my hands on my nephews!! And Evan....GROSSSSS!!!!! That sock rule should have already been enforced. But major props to you for running a MARATHON!! that's awesome. I think you just inspired me to run a half.

Girl, I am SO proud of you for running the 5K, and Evan nice work for running the marathon...amazing!

Stewy wants you to know Evan that he's jealous that you did a marathon. Are you still thinking about doing the iron man?

You guys are crazy! Rebecca and I will make and eat treats to give you guys at the end of an iron man if you want to do one!
